In July 2005, Cargoes was awarded the Undergraduate Literary Prize for content by the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP).

Published annually, Cargoes features poems, short stories, prose and photographs by Hollins students. Cargoes 2005 was edited by Lisa Bower '05 and Vivie Satorsky '05.
The AWP has supported writers and writing programs around the world since 1967. Its mission is to foster literary talent and achievement, to advance the art of writing as essential to a good education, and to serve the makers, teachers, students and readers of contemporary writing.
